Boost Your Earnings With Hubpages Referrals
Building out content on Hubpages is not only a great way to share topics that are of interest to you but also way to build a stream of residual income from your efforts. Whether you are just getting started with your first hub or have a network of hundreds of them, be sure to take advantage of the built in power of referrals to give your Adsense earnings a boost. Here's how Hubpages referrals work: There are a few ways you can earn money by referring visitors.
1. Whenever you link to someones hub through your blog, website, or forum post; you receive a share of that hubs impressions. For each one of those impressions, if a visitor clicks on an ad or makes a purchase through eBay or Amazon; you receive the revenue from that session. The larger your share of impressions is, the more income you receive.
2. Refer new users to Hubpages and receive a percentage of all of the impressions generated for each hub that user creates.
Getting started with referrals is easy. First, make sure that you have activated your Adsense and other affiliate information in your "Affiliate Settings" section of your Hubpages account. If you haven't signed up for a Hubpages account yet, you can do so here.
Next, click on the "my account" tab at the top of the page. You will see a box on the right hand side that has a section labeled "Your Account". Click on the link that says "URL Trackers". Here you will find a default tacking code which has been assigned to your account. You can either use this default tracking code or assign your own. (Tip: Using keywords as your URL tracker can be helpful for both keeping track of which content the tracker goes with as well as making your URL more SEO friendly.) To create your complete tracking URL, simply add an underscore character ( _ ) and your tracker to the URL of the hub you are linking to. Here's an example: Let's say I want to link to this hub about wrinkle cream and add my tracker for referrals;
http://hubpages.com/hub/Wrinkle_Cream.
I would simply insert my tracker code along with the underscore character between the hubpages.com portion and the extension of the hub I am linking to. If my tracking code were 0801082, it would look like this:
http://hubpages.com/_0801082/hub/Wrinkle_Cream
Now, every time a user visits that hub through my link; I will receive a share of the impressions and the revenue that goes along with it.
Once you have set up your trackers, you can really start to kick your referral earnings into gear. Here are a few tips to get you started:
- Add your referral link to your Myspace or Facebook page. Getting a few people from your social network to start creating hubs can really make a difference.
- Link to good hubs from your blog or website.
- Post to forums or communities you are involved in and include your tracking link.
- Submit your content to social bookmarking websites.
Watch your earning start to grow as the users you've referred start to become active contributors. You'll be amazed at how fast your Hubpages referrals start to build!

-Your newest fan
Thanks for sharing.
i am a starter and its given me a good start
i was totally confused about this tracker system, thanx, really thanx.
It is information hub. But, I am missing one point! How referral money is paid? Does HubPages pay through any payment system? or It gets added up in ADSENSE?
Hey thanks. I found your hub very useful. I still have one question though;
Where do I view my referral stats? Maybe I've overlooked but I can't seem to find a link to my referrals or downline.
Thank you for explaining the referral code. I finally understand it. Your hub was the only one that I read that clearly mentioned putting the underscore before the tracking code. I've been trying for hours to figure out what was wrong.
I am now a part of your fan club.
I understand the basics of url trackers and how to earn the money from this...
I am very thankful to you for this kind of information...I am searching on this topic and I found this Hub very informativ ...I am joining your fan club.....

Thanks for the great Hub, I am referring new users but I had no idea that placing the tracker in a URL would earn me a share! - James
Thanks. This is very clear, but I still have one question. What page/link to use for referring a new person to Hubpages? Do I just refer them to one of my hubs?
Thanks for an informative hub.
Very interesting, I did not know this. Thanks
Like AJ Tyne above, I do not know how to have people start writing by clicking on a link that would credit it back to me. Can you explain that so that we understand? Thank you! Will bookmark this hub and come back to review it.
great hub, keep it up :)
I'm a little confused, too, and plan to research this more, but while I'm here, I'll post my questions:
Can we add our referral tracker to ANY link we list in a hub? For example, if I link to YOUR hub above and put in my referral tracker, will I now earn revenue every time someone clicks on an ad from YOUR hub?
Or, can we only put the tracker on our own content / hubs?
I am late to know this information. But thank you very much, This is useful for me. I'll bookmark this hub.
I'm New to the Hub world, so this information is very useful.
Great hub!
I'm still lost, I just shared my default to my brother, but all it does is brings him to my Hub...how does he create a HubPage through that?
Very useful and easy to understand article here. Thanks for taking the time to share with us the information.
I assume this only works when referring hub links? What about external links?
It is very useful
thanks for the useful information. I am still learning on hubpages but it helps alot having well written explinations such as this.
Hi,
I have implemented the tracking code and setup Google Analytics and have everything in place..
I have 467 people signed up through my hubpage tracker link and in total these hubbers have published 901 hubs.
My question is, how do I find out how much I am earning from my referral trackers?
Thanks.
Great Hub! Very informative - will bookmark and keep as a refresher
I guess this is what is meant by an ever-green hub. Still getting comments after 3 years. It's exactly what I needed thank you!
I am new to hubpages and didn't know anything about HubPages Referral Tracker until I finished reading your hub. Today I got a message with the "HubPages Referral Tracker" on the top and followed by a box that contains some HTML text and request me to copy and paste to my website, toward the bottom that is a button for me to click. Is this what a person will receive when someone send out his/her HubPages Referral Tracker?
